Interview: Image of the Month September - Fantasy Life by Astil1

Posted by PiLe on Oct 26, 2004 - 09:16 PM with 8099 Reads

After long summer break, we bring you interview with our Image of the Month September winner Astil1 (Jiri Adamec) with his masterpiece Fantasy Life...

Title: Fantasy Life
Description: 3ds max 6,brazil 1.2
Artist: Astil1 (website: www.a-stil.com)

Artist Profile: Astil1

1. Please introduce yourself to our readers?

Iam 23 years old and I live in Czech Republic.

or few years my greatest hobby has been 3D graphic's. I like sport, clever woman and my Audi TT

2. When and how did you experience your first 3D CG program?
br>I started in 2000. and I think it was some leveleditor for Quake 3 Arena. Then I got my hands on 3ds max 2,5. After I saw presenting delfine scene I said that I want to know how to make these kind of things. So that's how I began...

3. How long did it take you to star mastering 3ds max?

I learned it in 2 years. Then I got a job in a graphic firm and after next 2 years I started to work as a freelancer.

4. What was your inspiration for this masterpiece?

Once I overviewed images which my sister had saved. I saw some beautifull art works from Stephen Hickman. At the time I found out I gazed on it for half an hour and i had pleasure. So I said why donīt i create some of those in 3D. It was quite an invitation and grind catch his style, add my own style and balance it so that I was content with it.

5. Which programs did you use to make this art work? Plase explain procedure?!

Because it is non-commercial work I used 3Ds max 6. I know it better in some things than XSI 4. I started with design to 3 layers and then I worked on them in sequence. I had a plan for certain parts for every day. I modelled the part, mapped it and textured it. I made it all at time so that I have no confusion later (by reason that I made this image accidentally owing to no free time).

6. Now that you look back, is there anything you would like to improve about it?

I think not. And I have this opinion because I had in course of manufacture it 5 month. I returned to it e.g. after month and I had other sight on it. Ahead of finishing I let it be criticised by men from lay and men that donīt understand 3D. On their reccomendations I changed a few things before I officialy let out it to the world.

7. What is this piece being used for and did you get paid for it?

This image is made only for my pleasure. So i didnīt get payed for it. Somehow I get specialist on characters and this is such relaxation only.

8. We assume you have some other cool art works... Why don't you submit them? :)

Something I would found out. But how I said characters " so that Afro man " is probably my best-known. I have better already but I canīt show it however.

9. What about your demo reel? Any plans about making it?

Now I donīt create images only for my joy. But I work externe for www.soulpix.de that prepare 3D films and I create majority human characters for them. In the most realistic quality. But now I have more free time so i can create something maybe.

10. Why did you join The 3D Kingdom Community and what's your respected opinion about it?

Itīs a excellent page and I have it among my favorite. I observe news mainly.

Recently I dealt with the idea if I would get a evaluation as image of the month. So I send it to you and I get this
evaluation.

Insofar that thanks J
